Success at the Bristol Vintage Fair!

Well Saturday was my best fair yet. Very busy all day, while still having lots of fun and meeting other stall holders. I sold so much of my stock I was worried I may run out by the end of the day!

I have decided to focus more on vintage homeware rather than cake stands and pin cushions. I have a good eye for spotting treasure where others may not…

The Hill Road Market Fair this Sunday

A last minute place at the trendy Hill Road Market has meant that I will be super busy for the next few days getting myself sorted. I have seen some inspiration of how to put my trios to good use which will make excellent Valentines and Mothers Day gifts.

50th Birthday High Tea Celebration at Nyland Manor

My wonderful auntie Dawn turned 50th in January. She celebrated with a ladies High Tea in the new wedding and events venue Nyland Manor in Dracott, near Cheddar. Nyland Manor is built right next to what I believe to be one of the best bootsales in the U.K. It is run by mother and daughter Rachael and Phoebe, my family friends. It’s a beautiful and quirky venue in a picturesque surroundings. It’s early days yet but I know lots of events will be held there such a craft fairs, wedding, hen parties, conferences, workshops and much more.

Afternoon tea selection

Such a good selection of both sweet and savoury, my favourite being the mini scones and coronation chicken finger sandwiches. The bunting and vintage crockery was a nice touch. If I was being niggly, the only thing I would change slightly is having a cake stand on each table rather than a buffet but it still worked but then maybe I just love cake stands a bit too much and am biased. Overall a very good day had by all and everyone, including Dawn was very happy and had a fab day.

RNLI Fashion Show Fundraiser

Now I am back in Weston-super-Mare, there is not a whole lot to do. So hearing that there was a fashion show fundraiser for RNLI in the Unwined Bar I decided to go along. There was a good turn out with a few stalls including Stinx, Noszkay Number 5 and The Rocks jewellery. I managed to pick myself up a nice top from Noszkay Number 5 and a pair of real pearl earring for £5, which made me very happy as I have needed a new paid for ages.

All in all a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

My last fair for 2013

Last Saturday I held a stall at Banwell Garden Centre’s Christmas Fair. It was a cold and wet morning and my toes were num within about half an hour of getting there. It was their first fair and I think a bit of a learning curve, organising an event takes a bit more than simply creating a Facebook page but they know for next time. They expected over 100 people there to buy Christmas trees but I think the weather put people off. It was very quiet and by 2:15pm someone started packing away and I followed suit, it was a shame it was so quiet but I literally could not stand the cold any longer (I should have taken a flask of mulled wine).

Welcome

Welcome

It was slightly annoying that there was another stall selling cake stands at only £5 each. Without sounding big headed mine looked a lot better but people would always rather pay £5 than £10 but hey ho. The pin cushions did well though so I was happy.

Christmas Inspiration

It is sad to have packed everything away but I plan to do a lot more in 2014. I am actually organising a fair for the Spring 2014 in central Bristol, which is quite exciting.

The Tea Birds

20131112-181627.jpg

I am very excited to announce my friends Anna and Jodie have opened vintage tea room ‘The Tea Birds’ at the bottom of Park Street. They stock all sorts of teas, cakes, sandwiches and lots more in wonderfully vintage style surroundings. I sampled their cheese and chutney sandwich alongside a cup of earl grey tea, a perfect break from my first few hours of Christmas shopping. It’s a great place to catch up with friends over a spot of afternoon tea and listening to 50s music. They are now open everyday, with the official opening event Saturday 30th November, more details can be found on their Facebook page.

I am delighted that my cake stands are being used for afternoon tea and they do look fab in the surroundings (if I do say do myself). Not only this but my cake stands and pin cushions are also being sold in there which is super exciting.

So next time you are on Park Street I definitely recommend a visit to The Tea Birds x

Lou Lou’s Bristol Vintage Fair

me looking all cheesy

Well what a wonderful day at Lou Lou’s Vintage Fair to do my first ever stall. It was a long day but worth it in the end and managed to sell almost all of my items and made some good contacts, so very happy. It’s now filled me with confidence and am ready to take on more stalls, with my next one planned in November.

If you bought any pin cushions or cake stands please Tweet me pictures of them in use. I would love to see them in use!

Upcycled vintage teacup pin cushions

upcycled pin cushions

upcycled pin cushions

For the past few days I have become obsessed by making these adorable upcycled pin cushions, these are just a few of what I have made. The fabric has all be sourced from various carboot sales, charity shops and even from a Goodwill in Portland I from when I was out there. All I need now is to find some doilies small enough for the tea cup saucers, together with lots more tea cups and they will be complete.

I cannot wait to see how these will do at Lou Lou’s Bristol Vintage Fair in a few weeks time.

It’s a great way to use up any odd tea cups, fabrics, ribbons and buttons that always seem to build up in the cupboard.

I will also do a post on how to make these for yourself very shortly.
